We were very happy with Duralife, they were efficient and professional in all aspects from start to finish. This was the second time we have used them, as we were very impressed on the first occasion it was natural to ask them to assist us again. We needed a company that could empathise with an old character property, be able to replicate the windows already in place and also improve the insulation. Duralife offered exactly what we required, there attention to detail was first rate and nothing was too much trouble including the work around the stone mullions which was so important. We would have no hesitation in recommending Duralife.

Timber Windows and French Doors
Installation of very high quality timber flush casement window, bay window and French doors with panes above, complete with timber projecting sills. The three section bay window had load bearing timber corner posts and all products were of Meranti multi layered hardwood for additional stability to avoid twist with internal beading for additional security.
The sealed units were Argon gas filled incorporating Soft Coat, Heat Retention glass together with warm edge spacer bars thereby achieving a U-Value of 1.1W/m2K. Toughened and laminated safety glass was used in doors and low level glazing with obscure glass fitted where required.
Sealed units came complete with oblong/diamond lead detail.
Frames were drained and vented and factory finished with a base coat timber preservative along with a primer coat and then finished with 2 coats of micro-porous paint. White finish internally and cream finish externally.
The opening casement windows had high security multi point perimeter locking and were fitted with period black monkey tail handles and matching locking peg stays.
The rear French doors were complete with fully glazed shaped head section, face fixed timber bars and diamond lead detail in Bardwell style complete with horizontal midrail sections lining through. The top sections were fully glazed and bottom sections incorporated timber infill panels.
The Apsley style bedroom balcony French doors had fully glazed opening windows above and horizontal face fixed timber bars.
Both window and doors had blackened diamond leading.
Both sets of inward opening French doors had butt hinges and black Chatsworth Lever/Lever handles. Associated trims were in matching hardwood.
These were installed direct between stone mullions and existing timber frames, with powder coat finish and maintenance free in thermally insulated “Alitherm” aluminium.
The windows in a mixture of black finish both sides and cream finish externally, white/black finish internally. All windows had leg sections removed to make sure that frames appeared as slim as possible and combined the slim sightlines of aluminium and the insulating properties of a new Polyamide thermally broken system.
Aluminium enhanced the look of the property with its attractive slim sightlines and bevelled/ovollo sash mouldings, creating a superb finish.
Black finish monkey tail handles were complimented by a high security “Saracen” shoot bolt lock which incorporated a secure secondary venting position allowing open windows to be locked securely in that open position.
All side casements had 90 degree easy clean fire escape/friction hinges.
Removed existing door and installed direct to masonry a black woodgrain effect externally, brilliant white finish internally, Fully Featured PVC-U sauna/gym window, complete with projecting sill.
Inward opening windows in tilt and turn style were complete with high security locking system. Black finish locking handles to opening windows, and low lying black glazing gaskets which eliminated the use of heavy looking rubbers.
Frames were fully reinforced with ALUMINIUM extrusion which guarantees no rusty coloured water seeping from drainage chambers. To enhance the appearance of the window, Fully Featured glazing beads were fitted.
The PVC-U windows were manufactured under BS EN ISO 9002 Quality Systems accepted by BSI and fabricated in accordance with BS7412 under BSI Kitemark Licence No. KM40251. Typical U value being 1.5 W/mK, which is significantly better than that required under the Building Regulations.
The window sat on new masonry thereby giving a good weather tight seal from any possible water build.
All windows were glazed with High Performance Planitherm Low “E”, 24/28mm double glazed, hermetically sealed units, which are all manufactured in accordance with the Kitemark Licence to the latest EN 1279 standard, BS EN ISO 9002: 1994 & BS EN 1279 part 2: 2002.
Toughened safety glass to low level glazing and obscure glass where required.
All sealed units came complete with 9mm blackened oblong/diamond lead detail to the required proportions and warmedge spacer bars with argon gas filling.
Due to U.V rays and to avoid discolouration of carpets, curtains and furniture, the windows were fitted with a 6.4mm laminated outer pane as it gives protection against fading.
Single bevelled glass was fitted to the rear timber door.
The completed installation achieved a severe exposure weather rating together with a ten year guarantee.
