The sliding sash window,
often referred to as a 'Georgian window', reflecting the period when this style
reached the peak of popularity, is a classic window design.
It has a timeless elegance and beautiful proportions which enhance the appearance of almost any home -period or modern, town or country.
The sliding sash window was created for highly practical reasons.
It is one of the few windows that can be opened, for ventilation or easy cleaning, without obstructing the exterior, for example a pavement or walkway.
It is no wonder that the vertical sliding sash window has remained a favourite design with builders and homeowners for centuries.
Duralife carry out the installation of sash-box windows with great care and attention to detail.
We try where-ever possible to keep intact existing linings and architraves together with internal window boards.
If however these items require replacement then we are very traditional with the use of internal timber ancillaries. Vertical sliding sashes come in many designs with many Georgian Bar layouts required by customers.
All Georgian Bars now fitted incorporate face fixing PVC bars together with internal back-to-back spacer bars fitted within the sealed units to give an authentic look and the impression of individual panes.
Sash windows can come complete with or without decorative horns and easy cleaning tilt restrictors which open into the room. All sashes are fitted with high security Fitch catches.
